Hello Everyone,

My name is Sheryl and I am new to real estate investing. Currently, I work for the State of North Carolina as a Certification Specialist. I certify, advocate and assist minority, women and disabled-owned businesses who desire to do business with state and local government. I attended a couple of workshops about real estate investing a few years ago when flipping houses was very popular. However, I became overwhelmed with all the information, lack of finances and graduate school so I put real estate investing on the back burner. I recently completed grad school so I have more time to learn how to do it the right way.

I came across BiggerPockets when I was conducting research online about real estate investing. I am interested in learning about wholesaling for starters then I would like to get into buy and hold. Also, I decided to get into real estate investing as a result of volunteering at a domestic violence shelter. What I learned was that many of the single women with no children have a difficult time finding housing and most of them only needed to rent a room as opposed to an apartment or house so I decided it could be a great opportunity to have a few boarding houses in my portfolio.
