I can share some insight from the military side, as I have stayed in MTR (through AirBnB) for periods of TDY (Temporary Duty, assignments less than 6 months.).

@Jay Hinrichs, I actually agree that a good agent hooks up buys and sellers and can play a vital role in the transaction.  

It's to the benefit of both the PM and owner since it doesn't make sense for the owner to have to approve a $50 screen replacement (just an example).There should also be a section in the agreement on duties (evictions, etc) and how the agreement is terminated.
