New agent career advice

Kishan Patel
Posted

I am considering starting a career as a real estate agent and wondering which state is the best place to begin. With so many states to choose from, it can be overwhelming to decide where to begin your real estate journey. Currently I live in Pennsylvania, I use to work as a Tech Consultant at a large firm and I hoping to a relocate different state to start my real estate career.

That's why I want to reach out to you and ask for your input. Perhaps you've worked in multiple states and have insights on the differences between them.

There are many factors to consider when choosing a state to start your real estate career, including the state's real estate market, the cost of living, the demand for real estate agents, and the requirements for obtaining a real estate license.

So, I invite you to share your thoughts and advice on which states are the most promising for new real estate agents. Your insights could be invaluable to those who are just starting out in this exciting field.

Thank you in advance for your contributions. I look forward to hearing from you!

Welcome to BiggerPockets!

Depending on your financial situation, I would recommend starting as a part-time real estate agent until you can build your business to sustain you.

Right now, I'm active duty Air Force, and I started a couple of years before my retirement for that very purpose. I desire to have a great foundation before my retirement.

For some agents, it can take a few months to "figure things out" (e.g., niche) and focus on that area. It took me a few months, but some got going right away. (Finding your niche is extremely important as a real estate agent.)

If you have a large savings of cash that can sustain a few (to several) months of fluctuating revenue, then this might be a great time to relocate.

Now, remaining in your current area has a drawback because of your desire to move, but I hope I've given you a couple of things to consider.

I wish you all the best.
