I'm in the process of retrofitting my duplex in Ottawa - a relatively easy one, just adding some sprinklers in the furnace room (self install + inspection for ~$1000) and some drywall in a basement hallway.First question - does the fire-retrofit inspection add value to the duplex, generally, in your experience?

However, I was also thinking of paying myself from some of the earnings as a 1099 employee simply so I would only have to pay self-employment tax on what I pay myself and not all the earnings, so filling taxes as an S-corp.

Hello all, I am just starting out as an investor and spend alot of time asking my self questions about things i dont understand and as apart of that speed bump ive been learning about creative financing deals and have a couple questions.. 1st being, do you need any capital for these kinds of deals ?
