I see a few possibilities: They are inexperienced and over paid.They are experienced and can rehab the property for less than moderately experienced. 

While you are learning I would recommend building a team!

Today I had another contractor in, notably less experienced, who all of 5 minutes walking through the house before commenting that I cant remove the walls I had knocked large holes into, as they "have to be load bearing" in his opinion.   

Whoever you consider working with in the future I highly recommend you thoroughly vet them, and that should include a visit to the market to meet with the team, see their work and the neighborhoods they invest in.
