Yes, the cities are geographically close but consider that for a very long time transit connections into the employment centers of San Francisco and Oakland were lacking in the far East Bay until the opening of the Antioch and Pittsburg eBART stations in 2018 that really drove prices up.

I rent in a college town of College Station and my hard learned advice is to list your properties VERY early and make sure your lease has a longer than average renewal lead time.  

We might get restationed there next year and are debating buying another home or just renting while stationed there.  

@Brian Garlington, there are some decent areas in Bay Point and Pittsburg especially the areas close to Bart station. 

Good tenants, bad tenants, you do not discriminate or play favorites they all pay the same.Landlords that do not raise the rents of "good tenants" because they fear losing them are naïve and simply unnecessarily losing money or embarrassed to deal with the money side of our business.When was the last time the guy at the gas station or the tax man let you pay the old rate because you were a good customer.

NORADA is stationed in CA, and they are not transacting there !!!!

They recently obtained a contract to start building the high speed rail station, which will attract a lot of people for work.

I am a customer at my bank, the gas station, the grocery store and many other business and I never feel I am being treated unfairly by them expecting me to pay at their request.Life is about responsibilities.

We are looking to be able to retire from here as my duty station options are limited.
