Hi All,  I recently gave a lease renewal to sign for my tenant and she claims that her husband and her are separated and he just comes to check up on his kids from time to time.

Sure, with a paid off house you might always have shelter, but you can’t eat your house, or buy clothes with it, pay for your kid’s college education or even your utility bills.

We are not a young couple able to house hack (read 2.5 kids, 2 dogs, 20+ years of married family living) but we do have experience in rehabbing, know our area (one of us used to be a real estate agent turned software engineer loves analyzing a deal), and have a bit of cash reserves (not enough to not require financing).

My friend's kid got a MSW, a ton of debt and a $30K/year job.  

I am exploring having my next deal be a flip.

@Kyle Cooper I won't ever own a home with a pool unless I'm grown with a wife and kids and we are all able to enjoy it to where the opportunity far outweighs the cost.

All the space camp kids stay there. 

The husband stayed back and has subleased/allowed his daugther and son in law and 2 kids to move in without my consent.

My lease doesn’t expire till Dec, but since there have been problems before, the office isn’t fighting it, it’s already rented by the way.2 weeks ago......  2 adults with 4 kids moved in next door.
