If you are feeling frisky and/or want to get a sense of how serious they are, you could tell them that your attorney only engages with other members of the bar and clients, but you will kindly pass on their attorney's info to your lawyer.

Generally if there is/are state return(s) that need to be filed because the bar is higher than the federal bar (like CA), I suggest filing the federal as the client is paying for it anyway to prepare the state return(s).Not sure I'd suggest filing the federal if it had no items of income and expense and no required state returns.

@Kevin Sobilo I've considered it, but ultimately the bar for entry is far lower in that part of the country than in the North East and cash flow %'s are far higher.

But it would fall miles short of my own bar as a potential tenant, who wouldn't even know at that point if I even want the place.Now, if once I see a property and am interested in renting it, I would have no issue providing a full application including my social security number.
