I've seen first hand how RE is a great investment/source of income so I always recommend investing in RE in addition to saving for retirement(stocks/bonds), building up an EF, etcI think your response is pretty on point as far as trust issues/doing due diligence etc.

People of my generation are more interested in buying 300+ dollar sneakers rather than investing in stocks and shares for the company or manufacturer who makes them.
