I have had a couple where I didn't even have to polish the oak hardwood floors beneath the carpet.

Behind is a 2 level garage with 2bd 1bth suite on the second floor renting for 950, and an non-permitted studio apt beneath renting for 800.

We may pave the ground beneath the portable storage units if necessary, but the boat/RV will be rock/gravel.

Agree with Jd Martin ... depending on the use, if the walls seem solid without any signs of damage beneath, priming and painting it out is likely your best option.

On the other hand, we have a big un-finished basement beneath our historic (1901) home here in Colorado Springs, so we might roll our profits into finishing out a rental suite here.

So, how much of that $50k equity is beneath the upper 25% of it's value (if any)? 

I realize there are plumbing and HVAC etc. systems, but I wonder if a contractor could detach the sill plate from the foundation and put some sort of shim-like system in there?  

I am just updating kitchens and bathrooms but would like to take out the alum siding and refurnish the cedar clapboard beneath it.
