I would have this inspected for sure as I know a couple of local contractors who work on these systems.

Because of that, I know how to construct a contract, I know how to get financing, I know how to inspect my property and I know how to negotiate.

If it’s a true foreclosure, a bank sale, they may not allow an inspection.

Had an inspection done this morning and the AC had been stolen, the main stack for the sewer was cracked, the furnace wasn't functional, water was turned off, asbestos covered ducts, nob and tube wiring, leaking roof just to name a few things. 

During the annual re inspection I was told  that the attic needs a handrail ( I didn't realize it never had one).

Is there any specific type of inspection which could confirm there is no more issue with the house regarding the water damage?

By the time you are called to do an appraisal or inspection the property has already been bought.
