Walls and ceiling are white.Same question for the bathroom - shower tiling is going to be beige/brown and vanity counter/cabinet will be walnut. 

However two bedrooms were in the basement with ceilings barely over 6ft.

The casing and entablature around doors and windows, fireplace mantels in multiple rooms, hardwood floors, chandeliers, high ceilings...a lot to be said for a certain charm it gives which many like to rent.

The plan is to do a cosmetic renovation, with a new kitchen, some new flooring, baseboards, smoothing ceilings, potlights, new windows, lighting, etc.

A home is certainly not a home, otherwise we all mind as well shop for rental properties on paper and not consider the home. 2 homes side by side, but one home has vinyl plank flooring instead of carpet in high traffic areas, ceramic tile in kitchens instead of vinyl, upgraded bathrooms with ceramic tile and accent tile, newer vanities, designer ceiling fans in living room and master, new counter tops instead of the old dated ones, etc., will perform better.

Again, I'm not sure how this can really be fixed in a really old home with very low ceilings (like 5'6 ceilings or a little lower) in the basement.

A tall pantry tower to the ceiling would suffice for extra pantry space.

Upon doing a walk-through I noticed the shower head was missing, a ceiling fan globe missing, 2 accordion doors were broken to the point of replacement and the kitchen counter tops broken.

Adding extra insulation behind the radiator, in the basement (in the ceiling below that unit), and insulating all the boiler pipes in the basement did help a lot.
