If/when I do venture back into Houston, I'd love to chat more. 

I walk right up (you'd be surprised how receptive people are, often they've had a couple beers) and start chatting.

@Chad Clanton is correct, though – it's not required to view investments, participate in discussions, or otherwise interact with the site.  

Then call him, chit chat a bit and build a little rapport and then go down the list of questions one by one; what's it rented for, are they current, is that market rent, how long have they been there, what condition is the property in, details about the property's (i.e. sq. ft., bed, bath), etc. 

For real time interaction with other members, jump in and answer posts or comment on subjects you are interested in or knowledgeable about; and build your network! 

And that relationship is going to be built on positive interactions.  

Hopeful to chat with you all to better get some understanding about how things works.
