While property taxes are onerous throughout Long Island, I believe one issue impacting the south shore is flooding/flood Insurance.

In Oregon we have occupancy agreements that can cover temporary guests but it seems too complicated.

This is all temporary so don't panic if it does happen, but if you are looking to refi with a traditional mortgage or use credit where your score is important any time soon, you better account for this.

I always get super nervous when I hear about someone trying to finangle their way into a cheap loan via balance transfers, temporary 0% interest offers, etc.The bottom line is this: credit card companies are out to make money.

There are specific appeal deadlines that apply, so your friend should reseach these as they apply to his situation.Finally, your friend can apply for a temporary reduction in assessed value if the value of the property has declined since he reacquired it.

This would definitely be a temporary thing, but it seems the area is worse than I thought.
