Maybe when I pull a permit that could also be enough.I really prefer to do most of the work myself to stretch the funds out.

Thinking back, I was kicking myself for putting people through the horror of viewing the place.I had other tenants which I forced to permit showings, particularly those that cannot be at home, and they reported things stolen.

Whenever we have succumbed to such a request and despite telling agent what our requirements were and that they would have to be paid by the susp... oh...prospect, all 3 or 4 brought exactly the least qualified folks 2 even that had not made it through our prescreen 3 weeks earlier.

Anything you do like that will officially require a permit and the building dept will quickly let you know what's allowed. 

You may be able to get estimate, and home inspection, but any permits are sidelined until local offices are reopened
