Given the narrow width of row homes, very often, it is indeed the side walls which carry the floor joists and intermediate roof supports.  

my biggest concern is that to me 20k before, I'm assuming, a split with your partner seems like a very narrow profit margin. 300k is a big risk and spread over 6 months wouldn't be worth it to me to do this deal.

Most of them are like this, with much too narrow a margin to turn a profit.

You need to focus on area, up and coming and B to B+ and C properties.

I did an in-depth review on them, but I also would recommend taking a step back and looking at all the options before narrowing your focus to just two right at the beginning.
