I think that you can be successful investing in retail if you choose to focus all of your efforts and knowledge in this vertical.  

Its always good to see fellow new investors taking the effort and introducing themselves!

You should definitely be calling them yourself as you will put in more effort than any hired cold caller.

Effort will equal results!  

The reality is, most people who make those kinds of excuses simply do not want to put in any time/effort or be uncomfortable, even for a short time.

That being said, for your first effort I would recommend starting local.

If he gets pissed off, screw him and find someone else won't be afraid to work for your money.This is going to be a multiyear effort, and you can't get it done all at once.
