The City wants to ensure the work is done safely and per building codes, and even tho they will come out to do inspections, they even realize that they typically do not catch everything, nor are they fully responsible to; which means it is still the full responsibility of the owner to ensure the work is done safely.

Chicago code requires that all tenants need to be able to access their electrical panel 24/7 unless a dedicated person (engineer/owner) lives there to provide them with that access.

Electricians will not risk their reputation/license by leaving anything that’s dangerous behind on a job.For it to be up to code, its important that you have the ungrounded outlets on all circuits that have the knob and tube (the two prong type).
