You don't want to fall so in love that it clouds your judgement but it does help to have some inner connection to the property.

@Nick Merryman   actually with that low of mortgage and making assumptions that tax's are low and the foreclosure has not drug on for years.. and their are no other junior liens or judgements this person could get a really nice chunk..

However, you can ask for anything in your suit for judgement, if the defendants don't answer, you have a default judgement; the validity of the claims is no longer able to be challenged.
