A buyer committed mortgage fraud in the loan application (falsified her income) and was eventually denied her loan. 

The amount of abuse from these things is ridiculous.

Cory, I just read IRS Pub 575 and there is a section that denies the interest deduction, I stand corrected and in the exemption for the loans, Dawn was correct that it must be for the "purchase" of a primary residence (it may be for down payment) and not just slapping a lien against an already owned primary home.

This allows common sense in selecting a tenant while establishing ridged enough guidelines so that you can deny an applicant.
