Vatsal, in my opinion I would say go ahead and move forward and complete the renovations.

Someone with better connections than you will likely take you for a ride--push you out of the company and steal it from you, if it's worth stealing.

So, if a tenant pushes back on the MTM, to me that's a red flag, because there really is no down side for them unless they are up to no good.
