Asking for a friend ;) 

I have a few architect friends that have gone through the process in multiple cities.

Me and my friend have lived at home for more than a year and have saved up enough money to buy a house and move out. 

There are many investor friendly brokerages. 

Do you have family or friends in those other states you have properties?

Just spouting out here, but definitely get that clarified as you do not want to cross the line where a friend is planning on paying you commission from the sale as if you were an agent if you don't have your license. 

Everyone I know is aware that I buy houses , I tell my customers , friends , etc .  

@Mathew Wray   I am right off Woodstock and interested in your friend's services if they are a good fit.

I've considered Detroit as well but have been discouraged by some friends who live in Michigan and seem to think it's too risky.
