Any other advice on long-distance investing?

I am doing this transaction from a distance so I’m not too concerned about where the attorney is located as long as he/she is ok with traveling or doing things electronically. 

Many people in Austin are accustomed to commutes of 40+ minutes and do this for more affordable rents and mortgages.  

So, I highly recommend checking out the book Long-Distance Real Estate Investing by David Greene.

Also, David Greene has a book called Long-Distance Real Estate Investing: How to Buy, Rehab, and Manage Out-of-State Rental Properties.

Secondly, if you can find a all around handyman would could do most of your repairs, then you should have no problem managing long distance and it should make your numbers look better.  

Being at a distance, or OOS as most call it, is making it a little harder to establish these relationships.

This involves:Reading books (the ones I've read so far - Long Distance Real Estate Investing by David Greene, The Book on Rental Property Investing by Brandon Turner, few more authors like J.
