No problem if you are getting out of rentals, but if you just plan to buy again in the near future, it makes no sense to sell.Paying off your mortgage to be debt free is an emotional decision, not a mathematical or financial decision in most cases.

There are two ways of addressing issues: fact-based and emotion-based.If the owner and 9-1-1 operator worked on facts, they wouldn't be concerned about firearms when conducting a welfare check on a tenant.

Solid offer, but they hired an engineer that basically convinced the home owners that the roof was going to collapse on itself, I HAD an engineer's report stating that everything was fine. 2nd offer busted....FINALLY, the 3rd offer closed....What a crazy journey, lots of emotions and frustration.

I just wanted to add, although your attorney may have already told you, that most states, I believe MA is one of them, have laws against "elderly abuse" where someone has taken financial, emotional or physical advantage of an elderly person.
