I thought maybe I could solve this problem later and just pay the minimal taxes on it until then.Turns out, that BP commenter put me in touch with a specialist that has been helping take properties out of flood zones for 20 years (win #1), the commenter himself is a developer with experience and a heavy desire to find good land in FL to develop (win #2), and come to find out this commenter has plans in the works to start an equity fund specifically for delivering affordable housing (win #3)!

How much thought have you put into all the negative things can happen with rentals?

What are your thoughts on converting a split level's bottom floor into a separate apartment? 

I thought about becoming a home inspector or an appraiser, however I don't know if it would be wise for my investments and career to both depend on the housing market.

I have thought about this Avenue and would like to know more about it. 

They wouldn't have done an appraisal, it would have been just negotiated based upon where the buyer thought they could make money.
