In addition to the comments and suggestions about local REI volunteering and labor for hire, I'd suggest a serious financial education.

The tenant of course would like the property not to change hands and will likely volunteer that it was a meth remediation but I don't know if an appraiser will be obligated to say anything or adjust for it.   

I'd love to chat when you're in Pueblo CO on 7/1.Pueblo is a pretty small city, so there aren't a ton of BP members here... but I'm happy to volunteer to organize and try to round up a few folks if no one else has offered.

Then turn the lots into community gardens were the neighbors could grow veggies and fruits and do it all on the honor system..We see that here in Oregon there will be a little stand in front with freshly harvested fruits or veggies with a donation can ( Coffee can) and you just pull over and grab some tomato's or such and then leave your money in the donation can.. and every few days the volunteers that are tending the garden come by and empty the can.. and use that to buy things to better the garden...

If you live with roommates make sure you volunteer to pay all the bills (internet, cable, utilities, etc.) and be sure to collect from your roomates to pay off the bills.  

I must say that I find the idea of purchasing Non-Performing Notes to be somewhat fascinating. With a degree in economics and a stint in commercial finance, the complexities of the moving parts attract my mind's inter...

So, volunteer, find RE clubs, and get to know your friend's parents, and everyone else you can. 

I think the online route for college will be good for me and I will be getting in contact with my grandma, who is an agent, to see if I can do volunteer or assistant type work for the brokerage she works at.
