But the loan officer I spoke with said they have no issue with me moving my properties into an LLC as long as I am paying the mortgage.Because my plan is to purchase properties under my name and BRRRR them and then put them into an LLC the lawyer is advising me to keep them in my name and bulk up on insurance/umbrella policy in case of a law suit.

The best reasons to carry a mortgage are risk mitigation (less equity in the property means less attractiveness for lawsuits) and opportunity costs (leaving money locked up in a house when it could be earning a better return somewhere else).

The reason you see a person’s name and all their entities listed in a lawsuit is because Plaintiff (the suing party) attorneys have to list everyone and every entity that can be remotely tied to a cause of action, otherwise, if enough time passes and through the legal process discover that a separate entity or just a person was truly liable and they didn’t name them in the lawsuit, they are out of luck.
