Here are just a few:* They cannot afford to purchase a home or simply do not want to buy a home* They do not want to rent a SFR since it may required the tenant to take care of some maintenance* They are in transition in their life (ex. recently divorced, just changed jobs, and etc)* Some people have rented all of their life and that is all they knowThere are so many other reasons here, I would not worry about the reasoning why.
