I grew up near Philadelphia, and while I'm not currently active in Real Estate Investing, I would say that Northeast Philly is fine in terms of crime.  

Hi @Stephanie Lella -     I grew up in WHB (and coincidentally lived in Baltimore too), and am familiar with real estate in that area having helped my mom with the sale of her home in Remsenburg, and purchase of her home in Westhampton Pines.  

My wife and I are conservative people who grew up with parents living pay check to pay check.
