if you find a lender who doesn't understand this or is really pushy to let them pull your credit, that is a red flag to me.If you had to time, you could shop for a loan while you shop for a home / real estate agent. 

And I think one of the reasons I always liked real estate as opposed to stocks or other investments, aside from the things you mentioned (something tangible, can actually do things with it, etc) is that things that would horrify other people don't phase me at all.

I have had customers present their own contract but once they review mine we usually just red-line any changes they wish to include or exclude.

However, most tenants are unsophisticated and will abide by a 30-day notice if they've been caught red-handed.
