@Brian Feeny. 7 years ago I compared Home Depot and Lowe's I chose Lowe's they had a better quality cabinet in 15 18 21 24 inch so it was easy to lay out the kitchen 7 years later they're still in great condition your second option is painting the cabinets and just buying the front doors and refacing your cabinets the front door's range anywhere from $25 up to $50 per door the pain is mounting them but it's done right they look pretty good

It sounds like there are plenty of people in your area so likely someone is motivated.If you have little competition then there is less pressure to do a deal before you know the facts.I would not worry too much about what you have found so far.
