Is it possible..
that I am the only investor in my area? Sounds strange right...but I am really starting to believe it's true. Here's why - In the last 6 months I have called every we buy houses sign I have found (which are basically nonexistent in my area, by the way), every newspaper ad, anyone that I believe may be in my business...solely for the purpose of networking with others, and finding deals. This has produced no result. Wholesalers have told me they dont really do much business in my area. I went to my "local" REIA last night ( not local at all, but the closest I could get)...again - nothing. 400- 600 people there....couldnt find one that deals in my area. I had a conversation with one of the guys that runs the largest RE business in the state, when I told him where I was...he said "oh - theres nothing out there". I see no evidence of any investors where I am. Now how could this be?
Now I've designated "my area" to be a circle anywhere within a half hour from my house. It's not cow country or anything like that. In this area I have cities, suburbs, the poor the rich and everything in between. New house, old houses, you name it, it's here. My research tells me there is roughly a million people residing in this area, and I see the area growing all the time. CT is the richest state in the country, and one of the most densely populated - Even in "my area". So what would make it "uninvestable" by anyone elses standards?
Better yet - what am I to make of this? I really want to take a stand of it will be harder for me as I'll be a stand alone business, but its all there for the taking with no competition...BUT...it makes me wary that there is no one else here.
So what do I make of this?
