I have a high desire to be in the short term market.

So, both my wife and I are full time W2 employees and are in the 24% tax bracket, and I came across the short-term rental loophole which sounds really amazing for taking write offs and using them to reduce your W2 taxable income, but also equally difficult to qualify for, unless you are within a short driving distance to your property.  

We are young, like being in the city and being close to everything.

I would simply Google "legal restrictions for short term rentals in city X" or "short term rental permits in city X".  

Account Closed  there isn't much difference between this service for medium and short term rentals in my opinion.

We're doing the finishes our selves to keep costs low and we'll operate it as a short-term or mid-term rental to boost gross rents.
