Advanced thanks.PS when you make contractor bids, do you have all your materials from Home Depot (or store) picked out prior to meeting with the contractor, or do you discuss this during to see if they have inside discounts (though I understand this may bite me back in the end)?

Elisha,If your baseboard heaters are not the old cast iron type, then replacing them is not a big deal – you can replace the outer steel enclosure, or the heating element, or the entire unit.
