I'm in the same boat about being a passive investor "for now" I think it's a great plan at first.Since buy & hold is your thing, be sure to take this time to cultivate your credit score, lower your DTI ratio, and save up some down payment funds.

My credit score now is about 720 mid scoreThe one thing that I have seen is that because values are so low in Detroit, trying to find a place/company/entity that would be willing to loan on a property under $50,000 has been a challenge.

For newer members, votes used to add points to the poster's score back when a score was being kept; that is no longer the case.
