@williamhochstedler I think you're correct, I put this post in the REO page because the department of Altisource I called was the REO.

., volunteer fire department, EMTs, town police, cool little places to eat and a lot of small businesses.

I'm trying to find a podcast with a former police officer that got his department to invest with him and get him started. 

A management company helps you collect rent - you can do this electronically;  they manage repairs - as a new build these should be minimal, and you can build up your contractor connections before you depart. 

What I hope to do is reassure the neighbors that I'm going to be a "good neighbor", and make them comfortable enough to give me a call if they notice something odd with the property that doesn't warrant an immediate call to the cops, fire department, etc. 

Just  go to your Local Court House Mortgage Records Department or in some locations the Sheriff's Department, who actual executes the seizure of property.  

Hello BP Members,So here is an update:Water Department called me today around 4 pm and said that tenant wants to shut off the water on this coming Monday (keep in mind water, electric, gas & trash are tenant's responsibilities as per lease agreement).

To have a legit office in the basement, talk to zoning and the fire department.  

I'm going to now find out what school district it's in and I'm going to call the police department to find out the crime rates in the area.What else would you guys recommend I research?

Even 4 miles down the road....1 hour drive.I actually don't go to any REIA events around here, and I haven't the foggiest on how to flip, so won't be much help in either of those departments but I do do the giggle thing so stay in touch!
