Once you make a few good connections, then just ask them if you can shadow them, or ask them out for coffee and ask them questions about what you want to do in the real estate industry, letting them know you would like their guidance. 

I've got no actual experience in the industry however i have decided to get my RE licence and I look forward to learning from and working with the community in the future

Learning a ton.I have a year of experience working in the loan industry as an L.O. but changed directions after I was laid off (along with many others) a year or two ago.  

They ended up working flipping burgers due to no demand in their industry and an oversupply of workers.I know people still paying those off 10 to 15 years later.
