Well, at a very drilled-down level, it's helpful to use city-data.com to research by zip code in an unfamiliar MSA, looking at things such as median income, median home price, % living below poverty level, % of renters, etc.

What concerns me whether this can be wholesaled is this: when i compare the list and close prices on the MLS they are very close indeed for the cash sales in that zip code area; yet they are further apart on the retail sales.
