So my question and advice i seek is whether or not i just fix the issue and move on or do i fix the issue and finish the area making it livable and usable space (est. the additional space to be aprox. 2 bedrooms and maybe a media room due to windows)?

Each additional rental helps spread the cost to make it more easily palatable.   

bankers see these all the time from realtors .. normally a spread sheet showing your experience IE list all your projects  I do one that has a days column at the top that shows days from cradle to grave..   

Keep in mind you still only put in 150k to get an asset work 180k, you just didn't have a large enough spread to recoup all your funds.
