I have searched the forums and couldn't find this specific questions asked before . . .A little background info:I am living in one unit of a fourplex, renting another unit in the same building to a friend, and now he wants to move a mutual friend in as a roommate. 

Given the state of the rest of the apartments and statements from other tenants, the place probably was this bad when the guy moved in so I wouldn't be deducting any of the existing issues from his deposit.He is stressed out about losing his home, but will likely not pass the screening/background check to stay.  

My buddy referred me this site after I asked him about his positive experiences with real estate.I hope to learn as much as possible about real estate investing from people of all backgrounds whether they are a rookie or 20 year veteran.

Hi,A little background about myself:- Graduated from Vanderbilt University, class of 2013.

In addition to my background my father also owns a reputable  general contracting firm, mainly focuses on commercial projects at the moment but has done residential as well. 

Background:  have 2 rentals purchased in the 90's, looking to start investing again. 

I have a formal background in engineering and business.

I am an investor and agent in the metro area and it's always nice to know people with construction backgrounds.

Background (short & sweet):I started investing in February 2004 with two single family rentals and moved into developing, but got burned by contractors and the economy during the economic recession.

It has some great info for people like me without a financial background.
