A very common newbie mistake is to buy at or after an HOA foreclosure without realizing there is an outstanding mortgage.Then, in 2016, the first mortgage lender decided to foreclose. 

If this was just a mistake and they get me my payment right away, I would likely only charge them a fee for the bounced check.
