In Florida we can abate the rent for the portion of time the tenant can not occupy the home (this happened to us a lot after we have a hurricane ) Because the owner knows about this repair and expense, is ask for a credit on the HUD for the repair and loss of rent, and hopefully meet somewhere in the middle
