Median property prices are about a third below the national median, rents are high - the Milwaukee rental market is the most competitive in the US, second only to Miami, FL (according to Q1 2024 report from rentcafe).

It seems like the local meetups can be hit or miss on the quality of people you can find yourself surrounded by.

Establish a high standard screening process, and stick to it.

I live in Miami and insurance is extremely high.
