I would expect that the door knocking efforts won’t last more than one or two afternoons; after that the toll of the rejections, not homes, denials and outright hostility and low success rate will win out.

In a similar inheritance situation, we had the choice to leave a seasoned mortgage in place, as there is not a due on sale when title (ownership) is transferred through a death certificate.

I don't think anyone would want to be responsible for the death of a family because they failed to upgrade an electrical system.Good luck and I hope that the current owner thinks seriously about upgrading the electrical soon!
