I think Government Assistance Programs (like Section 8) have the right aim, but more often than not, miss the mark by encouraging a lifestyle of dependency instead of improving circumstances through required education, job training, etc...

My Goal: By 45 yrs old, I want to be completely debt free and I want the assets I gain from investing to build enough savings/residual income to support my lifestyle, without the need to be an employee.  

I don;t plan on making this a lifestyle or anything - I just find it a lot of fun!

I think it depends on your lifestyle.... but it took me about 3 years to do it full time.  

I feel like that would create a better lifestyle for myself and family.

I know their current pay, lifestyle, job stability, etc., and am nervous for them.

Our initial decision-making criteria for relocating was to be closer to our aging parents, benefit from the lower cost of living, and enjoy the beach lifestyle.

These are all mins away the bigger more popular beaches, but are more "resident friendly" they have fewer bars and restaurants clustered together making them less ideal for tourism without sacrificing the "run downstairs to eat" lifestyle.
