If hardly anyone else has one then you don't have to have it.In my area there are many houses on the lake.

You would want to be looking in the Adirondacks, ideally on a lake, and near a ski resort, to capitalize on every season as much as possible.This brings me to my last point.

:) I have been renting a 2 bed 2 bath apartment in a luxury boutique highrise building with amenities galore and lake views in South Loop for 4.5 years.

We have a rural lake house, but it is on a paved road in a tiny little lake town.

If you are on a lake, you want coverage for that (we are and do).

Also, we are 1/2 mile from 2 major grocery stores and all of the home delivery you could want, whereas I'm guessing that's not the case up at the lake.

House hacking now in CA and interested in moving forward with buy and holds in AZ closer to Lake Mohave and/or southern and more central TN.
