I am looking for innovative ways to best use this property to make a profit (it has 1100 feet of Lake Frontage with a Western view of sunsets and Marquette but wetland issues that need to be resolved).

They just might have to go through less pleasant channels now, like getting a loan from a family member/friend, a cash advance from their CC, and/or a payday loan (since the wife starts working in Nov.).Keep us updated!

I'm fresh to the real estate industry with the intent to learn and become an investor.The original reason why I got interested in RE was because I think that the industry is ripe for innovation.

I am going to work with a family friend / realtor in advance of my trip in Nov in order to have the CMA and rental analysis at hand to make a better call on the fix/flip vs. fix/hold strategy.  

The county advertised it in the local paper(the paper also posted to their website) in Nov 2012 and sold it to a local company in Dec 2012.

@Shelly Smithif you just need a closing attorney there are tons but if you need one that can structure a RTO or some more complicated transactions I would go to Brian Elam of Innovative Closing Solutions.

Though, as the article says, there are "pockets of poverty" sprinkled in, and I don't see this "innovation district" changing the fundamental market dynamics.
