New guy in Hawaii

Hello BP Community!

Ive been a visitor to the forums for months, reading tons of posts and finally decided to sign up and make an account.

My name is Dayton and Im from Aiea, Oahu, Hawaii. A little about myself, I am born and raised on Oahu, married with children. I have no background in real estate, I am a electrician by trade. I was drawn into the idea of REI from some of my coworkers who started doing REI themselves. They didn't have any background but through education and guidance they were having success. I figured if they can do it, why can't I? And here I am. I am looking into learning to become a flipper, wholesaling if need be. That is my intention starting into this business. The why is to have my own business and spend more time with the family.

Based on what I read on BP, networking is the first and biggest thing to do for beginners.  Well, I figured this would be a great place to start my networking with others.

I am excited to say that I will be attending a mentoring class on Monday and my "official" journey into REI begins.

Im also looking to attend any REI meetings to meet and interact with like minded people and any info on time, place and who to contact to attend would be great. In fact, anybody wants to have a cup of coffee or a beer to talk I have a fairly open schedule. Just trying to soak in as much as I can and anyone willing to talk, I'll listen. LOL.

Aloha

Aloha @Dayton Tomisato!

REI MasterMind (Honolulu) is open to all real estate investors (which we define as anyone having completed a real estate investment deal). General membership meetings are held 6 times a year and all training is conducted by active Hawaii investors.

The group also holds informal meetings every month that are open to everyone. 'Jam sessions' are open forum, free coaching from our most experienced local investors, and 'rehab tours' are an 'open house' of an ongoing house-flip/job site by one of our members.

We don't advertise much, because we're not looking for members, but you can find this group on Meetup.com. If you're on my mailing list, you'll also get notified of group events. We'll probably have another rehab tour with the next couple of weeks.

Create an Awesome day, brother!
~Michael
