It's our first time setting up a medium term rental and bought a house with 6 bedrooms that the previous owner had been renting out as an MTR for travelling nurses (by the bedroom).

We will be doing a short term rental on the top unit (3bed/2bath) while living in the bottom unit (3bed/1bath).

Maybe adding the ADU's will give us more rental income and that's good enough.

not a fan. people are getting tired of having to always enter contact information to use stuff. guests just paid decent money to stay in a rental, and you should already have their information (email) in some way or form. just my personal opinion

Yes you do…as you should for any rental.

Depending on the location STR is going to make the most money because condo rentals are an attractive option due to the amenities.

There are many positives about Trenton, but as I always say to my rental landlords, everyone needs a place to live, so if you are willing to take the unknowns and nervous willies, then take a shot.

I personally lean towards the multifamily route because I have a girlfriend and a dog which isn't ideal for a room by room rental.

Run the numbers, does it make money as a rental?
