@Jack StovallThere is no need for a “203k certified contractor” as these are not certified by HUD or FHA, this is private company promoting their courses.

I don't like taking advantage of people (which is what I think most of these people do, some are probably worth it) but when I see mindless people just handing over thousands of dollars to people because that person is a good self-promoter, it makes it tempting. 

However, if the credits were obtained in some other way (like as a rebate or a promotional offer), the tax treatment might be different.Remember, tax laws can be complex and subject to interpretation, so it's always a good idea to get advice from a tax professional who's familiar with your specific situation.
